about usMailout was established in 1987, and what started life as a photocopied newsletter has evolved into a high quality magazine, highlighting good practice, promoting debate and providing a key support mechanism for the field of participatory arts.
The magazine is mailed quarterly to subscribers, either as individuals, local authorities, arts organisations, or in related sectors. The Mailout Trust is a company limited by guarantee, and an Arts Council RFO. The Trustees employ freelance editors, a graphic designer and a part-time administrator. The main aim and purposes of the Mailout Trust is to support, advocate and develop participatory work in all art forms and over a wide range of social and community contexts. This is still at the forefront of our agenda. In addition to the quarterly magazine, we have collaborated with the University of Glamorgan and other academics in developing a peer-reviewed journal, Arts & Communities, published by Intellect.
